Sports through and through. This probably describes my life quite well. Sport has always accompanied me, driven me, and determined and influenced many of my decisions. I am an athlete, coach, and sports scientist and have a strong passion for sports management.
Sports science studies (B.Sc., M.Sc.)
I completed my bachelor studies in Sport Science and Kinesiology with my bachelor thesis ‚Physical performance in elite male and female team handball players‘ in Salzburg, Austria while I was still being active as an athlete. Following that, I accomplished my master degree in Sport and Exercise Science with my master thesis ‚Comparative analysis of the indirect calorimetry and the metabolic power method to calculate energy expenditure in team handball‘, which I published in an international journal afterwards.
Sports management studies
In addition to my sports science studies, I attended a second master’s study in Sport Management Media. This study with all its courses has intensified my interest in going even deeper into this subject, especially into the field of team sports management. To expand my knowledge and skills in this particular area (and even more in the context of team handball) I completed the certificate study European Handball Manager offered by the German Sport University Cologne in collaboration with the European Handball Federation (EHF).
Athlete in team handball
I had some successful years playing team handball in different countries. Beginning in Germany at a young age and going through my entire youth education over there, my way brought me to Austria, where I played in the highest division. After that, I had the pleasure to experience another country and a different style of team handball playing in France.
Strength and conditioning coach & team handball coach
After stopping my active career, I switched to being a coach for a couple of years. I started my work as strength and conditioning coach of a female volleyball team in the highest division in Austria as well as coaching a youth team in team handball. Coaching young talented athletes as well as professional athletes, both in team sports, was great enjoyment. Additionally, in the course of my sports science studies, I also coached individual athletes in track and field for a period, which was quite contrary to team sport athletes and therefore a great experience as well. Besides professional-oriented coaching, I had the pleasure of leading a sports games course (team handball, volleyball, basketball, and soccer) at the university sports institute for many years, where I taught the basics of these sports.
